From the Desk of Father Lalo Martínez

Hey everybody!  I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! It is good to pause and give thanks to God for all His many blessings!

I was glad to see that many people came to Mass that day! As I said that day, the collection we took during the Mass will be given to the Youth Ministry of the Parish with the sole purpose that our youth will go out and give to others and share with the less fortunate during this Holy Season. An amount of $712.00 was collected that day; they will decide how and with whom the money will be spent, but it must be with people in need. I hope our teens will have a great experience serving others.

Today, with the 1st Sunday of Advent, we start a New Liturgical Year, the Year of Grace of 2019! So, Happy New Year 2019 everyone! I hope this New Year will bring many & abundant blessings to you and your family!

Advent is a time of preparation for Christmas; the season of Advent starts today and will conclude on Christmas Eve. During this liturgical season, you will find that the liturgy will be – somehow – “different”. We will use the Advent wreath and we will light one candle every week, we will use different kind of songs and the music will be a little less festive, the decorations will be more moderate, and so; all these external signs are meant to help us to prepare for the big celebration of Christmas!

Some of the ways we prepare for Christmas is be receiving the sacrament to reconciliation; our Parish will host a Advent Penance Service this coming Wednesday at 6:30 pm. There will be more than five confessors available! So, please come and receive the graces of this amazing sacrament! I think there is no better way to prepare our hearts to receive Jesus this Christmas than by receiving the sacrament of Reconciliation, don’t you think?

There are a lot of things going on in the Parish these coming weeks, I hope you will join the fun!

The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on December 8, it’s a Holy Day of Obligation in the USA. We will offer two Masses, Friday December 7 at 6:30 pm and Saturday December 8 at 10 am. Come and honor Mary as the Patroness of the USA.

On the same day, we will have a Christmas celebration “Rolling with the Clauses” sponsored by the ministry Armor or God, from 11 am until 4 pm. I think it’s going to be pretty awesome, come and see!

Anyway, I am running out of space, so look at the bulletin & website for more information about these and many more events that are already planned for this month; I truly hope you will benefit and enjoy all the things that are being prepared for you! Let’s keep praying for one another this Advent! My prayers and my blessing!

¿A poco no?
